How Long Do Thread Lifting Results Last?

The results of a thread lift are not permanent but can last from several months to 2 years, depending on various factors:

Different thread materials degrade at varying rates and lose holding strength at different times. For instance, studies have shown that Polydioxanone threads degrade in 6-7 months but lose their holding strength after 2 months, while Aptos’ threads, made of a combination of Polylactic acid and Polycaprolactone, break down in 1½-2 years and lose their holding strength after about 6 months. Once the threads lose their strength, they can’t effectively support the repositioned tissue.

The procedure's success then depends on the thread material’s capacity to stimulate the body’s synthesis of new collagen for continued support.  Polylactic acid and Polycaprolactone have a good capacity to stimulate new collagen synthesis, as opposed to Polydioxanone, which is widely recognised for its low reactivity in tissue.

Age and overall health can affect the amount of collagen your body makes. Younger and healthier people make more collagen. Poor diet, smoking, excessive physical activity, and sun exposure negatively affect collagen production.

The effectiveness of the threads may vary depending on the treatment area. The effects may last longer in the face's middle third than in the lower jaw platysma zone, where muscle activities are present.

Finally, the number of threads and support methods can influence the outcome.

Having realistic expectations and discussing the expected duration of results with your practitioner during your consultation is essential.
