How Does a Threadlift Work?

Before the Aptos thread lifts, Dr Ho will clean your face and prepare a sterile treatment area with drapes. He will then inject a small amount of local anesthesia at the insertion points, usually 1-4 points, depending on the number of thread methods to be used.

After that, he will make small incisions with a 1.27mm diameter 18G needle, which usually doesn’t cause scarring. A cannula will be inserted through these incisions to administer local anesthesia in the treatment area. You might feel slightly stinging during this process, but it will quickly numb the area. Once the skin is numb, the threads will be inserted through these incisions using a non-traumatic cannula or a blunt needle.

Dr Ho will reposition the skin and subcutaneous fat to their youthful position and strategically place the thread to hold them, creating a lifted effect. It is expected to hear the noise of the inserted threads and feel your skin and tissue being manipulated as they are repositioned. You should not feel pain, but if you do, please let Dr. Ho know, and he will provide additional local anesthesia if needed.

Over time, the threads will break down into smaller molecules and lose their holding strength. However, these molecules encourage the body to heal by creating a new collagen structure in place of the threads. This helps to keep the skin firm and elastic while maintaining the lift.

The recovery period following an Aptos thread lift is relatively quick, with most patients resuming regular activities within a few days. However, to ensure optimal results, it is advisable to avoid strenuous activity and facial massages for about two weeks after the procedure.

Potential side effects are minimal but can include mild swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the treatment site. These usually resolve within a week. In rare cases, patients might experience infection or thread migration, which the practitioner should address promptly.

You should consult with a qualified professional for further details on thread lifting. If you wish to arrange a consultation with Dr Hugo Ho, an accredited instructor for Aptos Thread Lifting methods, please do not hesitate to contact us. 0478 807007
