Can Thread Lifting Be Combined with Other Procedures?

Thread lifting can be an essential part of a non-surgical aesthetic plan when combined with other procedures. Adequate healing between treatments is important to optimise their effectiveness.
Pre-Thread Lift Treatments (if needed):
- Chemical Peels or Light Laser Resurfacing: 2-4 weeks before to ensure the skin is fully recovered.
- Non-Ablative RF and HIFU treatments: 4-6 weeks before the procedure can help stimulate collagen production and improve the skin's foundation for the procedure
- Muscle relaxant treatments: Taking them at least five days before can reduce the muscle strain on the threads in dynamic areas.
- HydraFacial or Light Exfoliation: A few days to a week to ensure the skin is clean and healthy.
- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma): 2-4 weeks before can enhance skin quality.
Post-Thread Lift Treatments:
- Restoring Volume Treatments: 2 weeks after. During a thread lift, the threads mechanically lift and sculpt the fat pads, recreating volume and contour. Fillers can then fine-tune areas needing additional volume, reducing the need for large volumes and avoiding overfilling.
- Muscle Relaxant Treatments: 1-2 weeks afterwards in the treated areas.
- Skin Resurfacing Treatments: Laser therapy, chemical peels, and microneedling focus on improving skin quality. It is important to wait 4-6 weeks until the skin has recovered.
- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma): 2-4 weeks after can promote healing and further collagen stimulation.
- Radiofrequency (RF) and Ultrasound Therapies (HIFU): The heat generated during these procedures can compromise the structural integrity and holding strength of threads such as PLA and PCL. It’s best to wait at least 6 months after a thread lift for the lifting effect to stabilize and for the collagen production process to be well underway. PDO threads are not affected by the heat.
Planning and spacing out these treatments appropriately can ensure the effectiveness of each procedure. Each treatment works together to achieve the desired aesthetic outcome by allowing the skin to heal and adapt to changes incrementally.
